Q. Several readers in recent weeks have asked when will Firehouse Subs in Davenport open?

A. For those who missed the answer in the Dec. 16, 2017, Ask the Times:

We contacted Firehouse Subs to find out. Natasha Wojcik, account manager at The Zimmerman Agency, Inc., responded:

"The new Davenport, Iowa, restaurant location is set to open at the beginning of February. We will be sure to follow-up with the news release once the final opening is confirmed."

Q. I was at HomeGoods in Coralville, Iowa, over the holidays. Does HomeGoods plan to open a store in Davenport? If so, where? -- Christine

A. Several other readers also have asked about HomeGoods. We contacted them in October with a similar question.

At that time, Lisa Zahn, HomeGoods spokesperson, responded:

"Although we appreciate your inquiry, HomeGoods has not announced a new store for Davenport, Iowa."

We contacted Lisa Zahn again on Jan. 18, 2018, for an update. She responded:

"The initial statement still stands.

"Although we appreciate your inquiry, HomeGoods has not announced a new store for Davenport, Iowa." - Lisa Zahn, HomeGoods spokesperson

Q. We've been told for over a decade that they're going to add that turn lane. Your article did not mention a time frame. I can't imagine it will be in time for the Costco project. Can we get an update? -- Sue

A. We contacted the city of Davenport to find out. Nicole Gleason, Davenport public works director/assistant city administrator, responded:

"The turn lane that will service Costco specifically will be added in July/August 2018 at the cost of the developer. The remainder of the left hand turn lane that will service 53rd from Elmore Circle to Brady Street is currently planned for completion by 2021. This project concept began one year ago when the City requested Surface Transportation Block Grant STBG grant funding and was subsequently awarded the funding from Iowa DOT in the summer of 2017. Due to the scale of this project it will take up to two years for design, bid and property acquisition and an additional two seasons for construction. I would recommend residents check the city website for updates on capital projects, as schedules this far out can change."

Q. When is the new Costco in Davenport expected to start building construction? Are road construction for the fiber optic cables and new turn lanes expected to start around that time? Any expected traffic delays during this time? – David

A. We contacted the city of Davenport to find out. Nicole Gleason, Davenport public works director/assistant city administrator, responded:

"At this time, Costco is expected to begin roadway improvements required for their development in spring of 2018 with anticipated completion mid-summer. There will be lane restrictions in the area during that time period but 53rd Street will not be closed to traffic. The City also has a reconstruction and widening project planned for 53rd Street that will likely start in 2019. During this project there will be utility relocations required due to storm sewer improvements."
