Q. There is a new building being built in the Iowa Research, Commerce and Technology Park out by Swiss Valley. What is the name of the business, number of employees on the job, range, was there any TIF provided by the city of Davenport? — Dave, Eldridge
A. According to Michael Giudici, developer of the Iowa Research, Commerce and Technology Park, the business is the Jewell Group, an industrial cutting tools, machine and fabrication company, currently located at 3129 State St. in Bettendorf. The company has about 85 employees, according to information on its website. Bruce Berger, director of community planning and economic development for the city of Davenport, said the company is not receiving any TIF incentive from the city.
According to additional information on the company's website, jewellgroup.com:
"Their new location at the Iowa Research, Commerce and Technology Park on the northwest corners of Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 61 in Davenport should be completed by mid-2017. Their new address will be 130 Research Parkway, Davenport. The new facility will be 60,000 square feet on 12 acres of land providing room for substantial growth. The facility will be fully climate controlled for increased product accuracy. There will be more efficient material flow and additions can be added quickly with no disruptions to normal business."
The Jewell Group has been in business since 1977.

Q. I was in the auto lane getting ready to make a right turn at 4th and Division. There are bike lanes at that intersection. I had a right-hand turn signal on, but just as I started my turn, another auto pulls up alongside me and made a right turn. He was in the bicycle lane. I almost hit him. Who is right? Should I have been making my turn from the bike lane? — Richard, Davenport
A. Capt. Brent Biggs, Davenport Police Department, said, "The writer of the letter is correct. The person who 'passed on the right' is in violation."
Q. Neither our very old TV in the bedroom, nor the not-so-old TV in the living room, can allow us to ascertain what chant they use when Jimmy Fallon comes out from the curtains at the start of his show on KWQC-TV6 at 10:34 p.m. each week day. What are they chanting? — James, Davenport
A. I believe it is the band, The Roots, singing, "Hey, hey, hey!" on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" at the opening. The crowd opens with applause.
