Q. When is the railroad company going to fix the tracks on Rockingham Road and Schmidt Road in Davenport? -- Kyle
A. We contacted Canadian Pacific Railroad regarding your question. Andy Cummings, media relations manager, responded:
"The rail spur that crosses Rockingham Road west of Schmidt Road is not currently being operated. There are currently no plans to upgrade this rail line."
Q. How long will traffic be rerouted because of the work being done on Waverly Road between Lincoln Avenue and Telegraph Road in Davenport? – Ed, Davenport
A. According to information on the city of Davenport's website http://www.cityofdavenportiowa.com/closures work on Lincoln Avenue should be completed by Sept. 24. Resurfacing work began on Aug. 7. Hawkeye Paving is performing the work. The road construction has caused lane reduction on Lincoln Avenue from Telegraph Road to Thornwood Avenue. We also contacted the city of Davenport for updated information. Nicole Gleason, public works director/assistant city manager, responded:
"The project was extended from the original completion date due to additional driveway approach repairs, but this completion date of Sept. 24 is valid as of now."
Q. At the corner of Forest Road and East George Washington Boulevard in Davenport there was a significant amount of storm sewer work done last year and early this summer. It appears that all work is done (nothing has been moved for over a month) but there is still a pile of gravel in the street, multiple large concrete drain lines laying around and no sidewalk to the bike path. Is there a plan to clean up this mess? – Larry
A. We contacted the city of Davenport regarding to your question. Nicole Gleason, Davenport public works director, responded:
"Thanks for the question, Larry. This material is continuing to be used for the project, but the contractor will be tidying up the site this week (Aug. 17, 2017). The project is expected to be substantially complete this Fall with a potential for minor touch up work in the Spring."
