Q: Where, in the Quad-Cities, can I play bingo?
— Linda, Quad-Cities
A: You didn’t say which city would be most convenient for you, Linda, but you can play almost every day of the week just in Davenport. Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds has bingo at 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 6:30 p.m. Sundays at 2815 W. Locust St. A basic package starts at $16. Call (563) 326-5338.
Elks offer bingo at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, 4400 W. Central Park Ave., Davenport, with packages starting at $10. Call (563) 386-8190.
American Legion offers games at 6 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Saturdays at 1111½ W. 35th St., Davenport, starting at $10.
For “low key” bingo from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Fridays, go to CASI, 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport. Packages start at $2 with 25- and 50-cent cards available. Call (563) 386-7477 for lunch reservations ($2.75) before the game.
In Moline, play bingo at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Eagles, 1404 6th Ave. Games on Friday cost $12 and Saturday, $15. Call (309) 762-9456. Bingo is probably available at other places, but I called these places after finding them on a Web site listing of bingo halls in the area.
Q: I saved my Wish List Quad-Cities special section that came with my Times on Thanksgiving Day and just got around to reading the heartwarming stories. However, I cannot figure out how to donate to the fund. Can you tell me how to donate?
A: Wish List Quad-Cities accepts cash donations only. United Way of the Quad-Cities Area has established a bank account into which contributions are deposited.
You may designate which wish you would like to contribute to, or you may donate to the general Wish List Quad-Cities fund. Administrative and publication expenses are absorbed by the Quad-City Times and the United Way, which means 100 percent of your contributions benefit Wish List Quad-Cities’ nominees.
As long as money is available, we will keep granting wishes. Those who would like to give to the Wish List can donate by sending their check to United Way of the Quad Cities Area, 3247 E. 35th Street Court, Davenport, IA 52807, or by visiting unitedwayqc.org.
Please do not mail contributions to the Quad-City Times, and do not mail cash. Send a check or money order made out to Wish List Quad-Cities.
Follow-up files- Several readers called me in response to an item last week about blue mailboxes becoming scarce. They pointed out that most Hy-Vee stores offer postal services.
- Ask the Times has answered several questions through the years about gift cards. Veronica from Camanche, Iowa, wants to remind readers that gift card receipts always should be kept in a safe place. She said it’s also a good idea to ask about gift card policies regarding lost or stolen cards before buying one.
