Two music events at library today

The Bettendorf Public Library will host two music events March 15 at the library, 2950 Learning Campus Drive.

Local musician Don Mitchem will perform at 1:30 p.m. as part of the Community Connections program series. The monthly series features lectures and performances that focus on local topics.

Josh Duffee will host Trax from the Stax, the monthly music listening program at 7:30 p.m. He will discuss music and memorabilia of local jaxx artists Bix Beiderbecke and Louie Bellson. 

Each program is free and open to the public.

Bettendorf Public Library celebrates

National Quilting Day March 17

The Bettendorf Public Library will hold a celebration for National Quilting Day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 17 at 2950 Learning Campus Drive. Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild members will demonstrate quilting techniques by creating quilt tops throughout the day for the public to observe. The quilt tops will be donated to charities following the event. Additional MVQG members will demonstrate hand-quilting techniques. Quilters from the community are invited to participate in the projects. Students seeking community service credits are also encouraged to participate.
