Coaches reason for nomination: Jenna had a great summer of training pushing her long run to 10 miles and working consistently in the weight room. She has stepped up to be our number two runner at the Pleasant Valley meet this past Saturday with a 19 second improvement over last fall's race. As one of only three returning runners with varsity experience, Jenna's leadership and work ethic will be pivotal to our team's success this fall.
How does an athlete train for this sport?
We train through various running workouts. Some days I'll go on a 10 mile run and some days I'll do a workout on the track.
What advice would you give someone who wants to do this sport?
Give it a try. The first two weeks of getting in shape are tough but after that you learn to love running.
