A motorcycle operator who lost control Tuesday evening near Folletts, Iowa, has died, the Clinton County Sheriff’s office reported.

The sheriff’s office identified the driver as Kirk Allen Kempter, 45, of Camanche, Iowa.

The crash happened on 292nd Street, just east of 360th Avenue, two miles west of Folletts. At 7:05 p.m., Kempter was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson heading eastbound on 292nd Street when he failed to negotiate a curve.

The motorcycle left the road and entered the north ditch, and Kempter was thrown from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office reported.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Low Moor Fire, Genesis Ambulance and the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s office.
