The Clinton Community College Student Senate invites the community to show their support for troops serving overseas. Support R Troops is an annual program to collect donated items for troops and their families. Suggested donation items include toilet paper, feminine products, regular coffee, gas and grocery gift cards, coffee cups, disposable cups, plates, plastic silverware, blank CDs, portable CD players/Walkmans, spiral notepads, phone cards, umbrellas, 3-ring binders, nail clippers, key rings, composition books, sewing kits, reading glasses (2-3 magnification), sunscreen lotion, plastic hangers, plastic laundry baskets, small clock radios, brooms and dust pans, room fans, new men’s briefs and boxers, socks, sweatshirts, sweatpants, packaged cookies and crackers, puzzle books, gift cards for local restaurants, puzzle and word find books, breath mints, gum, individually wrapped snacks, microwave popcorn, pens and pencils. Due to storage and infection control restrictions, no clothing or bedding will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off in the library or main office of Clinton Community College, or drop boxes at the Technology Center on Manufacturing Drive and the Maquoketa Center. CCC is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Cash donations will be used to purchase items and pay postage expenses to mail the packages. Make checks payable to “CCC Student Senate” and place them in a sealed envelope. Bring cash donations to the main office at CCC addressed to Student Senate c/o Mardell Mommsen. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 19.
