A child was injured when riding on a moped that was struck by a car Sunday afternoon, according to Davenport police. 

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. at 29th and Harrison streets in Davenport. The child, who is younger than 10 years old, was taken first to Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport then was airlifted to University Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The accident remains under investigation, and no other information was available Sunday night.

According to KWQC, the child was four. Four years old! Just a baby. They also listed him to have been riding a dirt bike, not a moped...possibly the laws are different? Either way, I hope he's ok...parents, keep an eye on those little ones!


I thought you needed to at least have a driver's permit to ride on city streets. I could be wrong. Age 10 on a busy street is way too young.

Yes, 14 is the minimum age for a moped or motorized bicycle permit.
