Colonel Davenport House open Veterans Day: The Colonel Davenport House will be open for special hours for Veterans Day from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Admission is $1 and free for military. Guides will be available to answer questions. The gift shop also will be open, selling Early American items such as toys and candle molds, souvenirs, books and Mississippi River mud T-shirts.

The Colonel Davenport House ended its regular schedule on Sunday, Oct. 27. Group tours may be scheduled by appointment. The house resumes its regular hours on May 1.

Attendees age 16 and older must show U.S. photo ID, because the Island is a working military facility. For more information, visit www.davenporthouse.org.
