Stephen Steely, organist at First Lutheran Church, 1230 5th Ave., Moline, will perform a free concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, to celebrate the rebuilding of the church’s pipe organ.

The organ was originally installed in 1982, but had deteriorated to such a degree that it needed serious attention. Berghaus Organ Co. has repaired or replaced every pipe in the organ, as well as replacing and upgrading the electronic controls in the instrument. A new feature is the addition of musical instrument digital interface, or MIDI, controls, which allows the organ to communicate with other computer devices. The organist now has access to hundreds of additional sounds to enhance musical performances.

Steely will perform music by Bach, Beethoven, Dandrieu, Widor and others. A reception will follow the

concert.
