Conservation District hosts spring tree, seed sale: The Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a spring tree and seed sale to promote conservation.

The Rock Island County district is taking orders for seedlings and containerized trees for conservation through March 27. Pickup is Thursday, April 10, at the district office, 3020 1st Ave E., Milan. Seedling quantities are limited, so place your order soon to ensure availability. Orders from outside Rock Island County are welcome, but your local district may sponsor a sale that may be more convenient.

The tree order form is available at or call to have one mailed. For more information, call the district staff at 309-764-1486, ext. 3.

The district also is offering a native seed mix designed to attract and provide habitat for pollinators. Seed will be ordered in bulk and divided for small plots, perfect for the backyard conservationist. For larger acreages, district staff can assist you with a custom mix. Native seed should be planted in early spring until June 1. Call the office to place an order.
