Core mission grants available to area nonprofits: The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend has announced that $100,000 is available to grant to area nonprofits through its Core Mission Grant program.

Organizations interested in applying should visit www.cfgrb.org. Questions about the application process should be directed to Kelly Thompson, the foundation’s director of programs, at 563-326-2840.

Deadline for applying for a grant is Monday, Sept. 1.

Each year, $200,000 is awarded to community projects through two granting cycles, with a maximum of $15,000 per grant. Nonprofit organizations located in Scott, Clinton, Washington and Des Moines counties in Iowa, and Rock Island, Carroll, Whiteside, Henry, Knox and Mercer counties in Illinois are eligible to apply.

Capacity-building projects such as strategic planning, board training and education, staff training, succession planning, collaborative work or partnerships with other agencies, critical equipment needs and technology/software needs will be considered.

The] grants come from the Community Impact Fund, which allows the Community Foundation the flexibility to meet a wide range of community needs each year. The fund is made possible by the support of more than 170 donors making contributions of more than $12.6 million since 1964. To donate to this fund, visit www.cfgrb.org or call 563-326-2840.
