Alcohol is believed to be a factor and criminal charges are pending in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday in Davenport that sent both drivers to the hospital, police said.

Kathy J. Scott, 53, of Milan drove a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street when she crossed the center line and struck head-on an oncoming 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Robert A. Berhenke, 52, of Moline, Davenport Police Capt. Paul Sikorski said.

Scott was speeding just before the crash at 3:41 a.m., Sikorski said.

Both drivers had to be extricated from the vehicles by mechanical means, Sikorski said.

A passenger in the Pontiac, identified as John J. Scott, 43, of Davenport, fled the scene and was later located, Sikorski said.

All three involved were transported to Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, with non-life-threatening injuries.
