A Bettendorf man is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl as she slept.
Brandon Wesley Banks, 45, is charged with one count of third-degree sexual abuse. The charge is a Class C felony that carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
According to the arrest affidavit filed by Bettendorf Police Detective Jeff Buckles, at about 1 a.m. Feb. 14, the victim was awakened to Banks abusing her.
The victim was able to kick at Banks and shove him away and he eventually left the room.
According to the arrest affidavit, the Iowa Department of Human Services founded a case against Banks on April 18, 2011, for allowing access to obscene material and sexual abuse-indecent exposure against another victim.
Banks was booked into the Scott County Jail at 6:03 p.m. Thursday. He was released at 9:30 a.m. Friday after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond through a bonding company.
Arraignment on the charge is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, in Scott County District Court.
