Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run crash that involved a stolen pickup truck that slammed into the Dunkin’ Donuts store at 3501 Avenue of the Cities, Moline.

But damage to the structure has caused the business to close for now.

“It happened early Sunday morning,” owner Sam Patel said Tuesday. “It is under investigation. We don’t know much more than that. But we have to close it temporarily until we get it remodeled again.”

“The truck was empty when we got there. It was reported stolen,” Moline police Sgt. Tim DeVrieze said. “Henry County is reporting that part of it. It was stolen from Henry County. It hit the east side of the building. The truck backed into it.”

Police said the crash occurred at 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Patel said he does not know how long it may take before repairs are made and the store can reopen.
