A Davenport man was arrested Thursday on charges he sold heroin to another man who died from an overdose.
Cornel Miller, 50, of 225 E. Locust St., Apt. #1, was in the Scott County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
He's charged with delivery of a controlled substance and involuntary manslaughter. The delivery charge is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and the manslaughter charge is a Class D felony that carries a prison term up to five years.
Davenport police were notified Wednesday night by officials at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport that Daniel Charles Hansen, 53, of Davenport, died after overdosing on heroin, Capt. Dale Sievert said.
Detectives discovered Hansen had just purchased heroin from Miller, ingested it, and that resulted in a medical emergency reaction, Sievert said.
Police searched Miller's apartment and corroborated findings at the victim’s residence and witness statements, resulting in the charges, Sievert said.
