Two Davenport police officers, one of whom was injured seriously, as well as another person, were hurt when police responded to an early-morning report of a burglary in Davenport.
According to a news release from the Davenport Police Department, Davenport police responded about 5:13 a.m. to a burglary in progress at a residence at 400 E. 12th St., Davenport.
Officers confronted a person inside of the home, where a physical altercation occurred. During the struggle, an officer discharged a service weapon. The subject and both officers were injured.
One officer was transported to a hospital.
Out of courtesy to the two police officers, the names of the officers have not been released so that their families can be notified first. The other subject's name also has not been released.
As a Davenport Police Department protocol, the Scott County Sheriff's Office was notified and will investigate the incident.
