An Eldridge couple was arrested Tuesday after police say they found marijuana and marijuana baked goods in their home.
Crystal Jade Hathaway, 38, and Alex Tyler Hathaway, 26, face charges of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison, and three counts of possession of marijuana (first offense), a serious misdemeanor.
Alex Hathaway also faces a charge of controlled substance violation, a Class D felony, and Crystal Hathaway faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Crystal Hathaway posted $8,000 through a bail bond company and was released from the Scott County Jail Wednesday morning. Alex Hathaway posted $10,000 through a bail bond company and was released Thursday.
A preliminary hearing for both is scheduled March 24.
According to an arrest affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint:
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, Scott County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at the Hathaways’ apartment at 11 Parkview Drive, which is located in the housing addition of Parkview in rural Eldridge.
Deputies discovered a jar with 22 grams of marijuana; a jar with 2.6 grams of marijuana; two grams of marijuana oil; two grams of marijuana wax; one jar with 11 grams of marijuana; one jar with 21 grams of marijuana; several marijuana glass pipes and bongs; and digital scales.
In a freezer, deputies found 162 grams of marijuana fudge; 538 grams of marijuana fudge with frosting; 700 grams of marijuana fudge brownies; 675 grams of marijuana milk chocolate blondies; and 854 grams of marijuana vanilla cookies with chocolate frosting.
Alex Hathaway was not present during the search and was pulled over after leaving work in Davenport. He was in possession of 1,436 grams of marijuana baked goods in his vehicle, $220 cash and a drug ledger with names, marijuana weights, prices and debts to be paid, according to the affidavit.
