A trial date has been set for former Moline High School and college baseball standout Anthony Molina on sexual assault charges in Rock Island County.

Molina, 34, of 2410 18th St., Rock Island, is scheduled for trial Oct. 22 on five counts of predatory sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual abuse of a child. Court documents say the victim was 8 years old at the time of the allegations, between February and May 2011.

Circuit Court Chief Judge Jeffrey O’Connor also set a deadline of July 12 for motions to be filed.

Molina is free on $100,000 bond after O’Connor ordered it lower at a hearing last month.

The star athlete at Moline High School attended University of Evansville in Indiana on a baseball scholarship with hopes of playing professionally. He was struck in the eye by a baseball as the opposing pitcher warmed up in a game in 1999, ending his professional hopes.
