A man was arrested Tuesday after Bettendorf residents allegedly interrupted his attempted burglary of their home.

Bettendorf police were called to 6092 Valley Drive at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday to respond to a report of a burglary, according to a news release from the city.

The residents reported that they had come home and found a man in their home. The man allegedly assaulted one of the residents and then fled on foot, but was found by police in the 3400 block of Moenks Road about 2:20 p.m. and was taken into custody, police said.

Justin Chambers, 31, of Bettendorf, faces charges of second-degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony and possession of burglary tools.

The resident who was assaulted was not injured, city spokeswoman Lauran Haldeman said.

Police are investigating whether Chambers is connected to other burglaries in the area that occurred earlier this month.

He is lucky he didn't assault a resident with concealed carry permit...It would be his last lapse of judgement

Right on Damien!! Must be nice to be perfect Stevo.

Perfect because my parents house got broken into when i was younger? I don't understand? Murphyterence you are right, I would be terrified to burglarize someones home and take a chance of getting shot...Not worth it

Interesting, My sister found this guys brother in our house years ago, Must run in the family!

stop commenting trash like this. His brother hasnt been in town for the last couple years and he hasnt been arrested for anything in over 10 years and the arrest had nothing to do with theft or burglary. Nobody in the family has ever been arrested for theft or burglary. Justin has been on a downward spiral since his dad died and it got worse a couple months ago when his grandma died, but none of that matters.... It doesnt run in the family, his brother wasnt caught years ago in a house... Your either mistaking or your a liar
