A Muscatine County man who has spent the past 18 months on probation for a theft conviction is now facing sexual abuse charges, Davenport police said.
Davenport police arrested John Philip Dean Kendall, 22, on Tuesday morning at the Iowa Department of Corrections residential facility at 605 Main St., Davenport.
Kendall is charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Two of the counts charge Kendall with performing sex acts with a victim between the ages of 12 and 13, while one count charges him with engaging with a sex act with a 14-year-old victim.
Police records did not indicate when the offenses took place.
Kendall was being held Tuesday night in the Scott County Jail on cash only bonds totaling $30,000.
On Feb. 11, 2011, Kendall was sentenced to two years on supervised probation and ordered to complete a residential correctional facility program after pleading guilty to a charge of theft second-degree in Muscatine County District Court. He had been scheduled to be released from probation in February.
Sexual abuse third-degree is a Class C felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
