A $10,000 cash or surety bond was set Wednesday for a nurse accused of stealing prescription painkillers from the Bettendorf Health Care Center and tampering with records to cover her tracks.

Lesley Ann Krebs, 29, no address given, was booked into the Scott County Jail on Tuesday night on charges of prohibited acts (first offense), a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.

She will be back in court Friday.

According to an arrest affidavit filed Wednesday by a criminal investigator with the state Medicaid fraud control unit, Krebs stole Hydrocodone and Oxycodone, both narcotic painkillers, between May 23 and June 8.

Krebs claimed the drugs had been administered to residents and falsified several patients' narcotics administration logs to conceal the fact that she was stealing the drugs for herself, according to the affidavit.

An administrator at the health care center declined comment Wednesday.
