A Davenport man who threw a rock at his girlfriend hit the woman's 2-year-old in the head, police say.
Swayze Marcel Santiago, 22, of 1408 1/2 Farnam St., was in the Scott County Jail on Thursday charged with child endangerment with injury.
The Class D felony is punishable by up to five years in prison.
Police were dispatched to Santiago's home about 11:17 p.m. Saturday on an assault call and found that he had thrown a large rock at the victim while she was holding her child, striking her in the right shoulder and hitting the child in the head, according to his arrest affidavit.
The woman suffered bruising, and her child had a cut on his forehead that required examination at a hospital, the affidavit states.
Santiago and the woman had lived together for the past nine months, have no children together and were never married, the affidavit states.
The victim requested an order of protection, according to court records.
