A "vague" threat found in a bathroom stall claiming there would be an incident Wednesday at United Township High School in East Moline was determined not to be credible, police said.
East Moline Police Lt. Darren Gault said the threat was discovered Tuesday.
An investigation by police and school officials found no credible evidence that the threat was valid, he said.
Gault said police were at the school Wednesday to "ensure a safe educational environment."
No incidents occurred at the school and rumors circulating on social media that someone was arrested with a weapon are untrue, he added.
"We want to thank the students and the parents at UTHS for their cooperation," Gault said. "No danger to the public is known to exist at this time. We encourage anyone with information of any kind, at any time, about potential crimes at UTHS to report them to Crime Stoppers at 762-9500 or use the P3 smartphone app."
