A Davenport man who is accused of trying to kill his wife in December by lighting her on fire was arrested Wednesday after being released from the hospital.

Tom Kuan, 59, is charged with arson first-degree, attempted murder and felony domestic abuse. He was being held Wednesday night in the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

According to court records, Davenport firefighters went to 2621 E. 50th St., at 8:32 a.m. on Dec. 5 for a structure fire. They found Tom Kuan lying on the floor at the bottom of the stairs.

Kuan’s wife, Lyn Kuan, no age available, escaped the home through the garage with severe burns on her body, court records state.

Authorities said that Tom Kuan allegedly dumped gasoline on his wife and himself and ignited the fuel.

Both were badly burned and taken to University Hospitals, Iowa City, for treatment.

Lyn Kuan’s condition was not available Wednesday.

As "alertreader" commented, hard to believe taxpayers have to pay for this waste of oxygen!!!

And all this is at the taxpayer cost, how does that make you feel?

My initial take on this considering the picture and news heading was....WOW!! The cops got the better half of this guy when resisting arrest. Also, what is the point of the mug shot for ID purposes? However, after reading the article I found the Mr. Kuan got his just due for trying to commit such as heinous act. Those burns will last a lifetime!
