A man accused of robbing two Davenport businesses at knife-point last month has been caught on felony charges.
Ryane D. Griffey, 25, 1417 N. Ripley St., Davenport, was in the Scott County Jail Friday, charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of second-degree robbery.
First-degree robbery is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison upon conviction. He would face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the second-degree robbery count.
The first robbery occurred Dec. 24 at the Shell gas station at 1909 N. Harrison St. Griffey displayed a knife to the clerk and demanded money, his arrest affidavit states.
He did the same thing on Dec. 31 to a clerk at Dollar General, 403 E. Locust St., his affidavit states.
Griffey returned to the Shell station at 3:14 a.m. Thursday in an attempt to rob the store, his affidavit states. Police caught him three hours later with a box cutter, which wasn’t displayed during the robbery, the affidavit states.
