A registered sex offender was back behind bars Thursday after deputies say he posted two graphic photos of a woman on her front door after claiming that she owed him money.
Gregory Mark Hintze, 61, faces one count of extortion, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison, and two counts of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
He was released from the Scott County Jail late Friday morning after posting $10,000 through a bail bond company. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 21.
Scott County Sheriff’s deputies claimed in arrest affidavits filed in support of the criminal complaint that Hintze posted two graphic photographs of the woman on her front door between June 30 and Wednesday.
She told deputies that Hintze thinks that she owes him money and that he also posted threatening notes on her door, according to the affidavit.
The sheriff’s office said Hintze is a registered sex offender and detectives had received other complaints involving Hintze’s behavior, according to the affidavit.
According to the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, Hintze was twice convicted of second-degree sexual abuse in the early 1990s.
