Davenport police are investigating a shooting early Wednesday that seriously wounded one person.

The incident occurred at 1:58 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Locust Street with officers responding to a call of six or seven shots being fired.

When officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh area. The victim was transported to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport, and was later airlifted to University Hospitals, Iowa City, for treatment of that wound.

The Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
