CRASH UPDATE: Davenport police said a westbound 1994 Ford Ranger ran a red light at Bridge Avenue and crashed into the rear right corner of the trailer of a Wonder Bread semitrailer, which was turning north on Bridge Avenue from eastbound River Drive.

Witnesses said prior to the Monday evening crash the pickup was being operated in a dangerous and erratic manner, police said.

 The driver of the pickup, Michael Lagrange, 48, of Davenport, was transported to Genesis East Medical Center. Lagrange refused further medical attention and was released from the hospital. Police said while at Genesis East he assaulted a female uniformed police officer and a female nurse, causing minor injury to both.

Lagrange was booked into the Scott County Jail and charged with red light/disobeying a traffic control device, careless driving, OWI 1st offense, assaulting a police officer with injury and assaulting a medical care provider with injury.


Semi-pickup crash snarls River Drive traffic

EARLIER STORY: A semi collided with a pickup on River Drive at Bridge Avenue in Davenport just before 6:30 Monday night.

An ambulance was at the scene with Davenport police and firefighters, but information about injuries was not available.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes, and traffic is down to one lane on the eastbound side of the road.
