Two Davenport residents have won big prizes from the Iowa Lottery.

Joyce Schurke, 59, scratched her “Crossword” ticket and counted nine words, which would pay a $3,000 prize. She actually had 10 words and won a top prize of $30,000.

Schurke, who is a school bus driver, said when she discovered she had won much more than she originally thought, she was so shocked that she started to shake.

Schurke said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills and is still thinking about how to use the rest. She purchased her winning ticket at Casey’s, 222 Front St., Buffalo.

Crossword is a $3 scratch game. Forty-three top prizes of $30,000 are still up for grabs in Crossword.

The other winner, Steve Hoftender, 50, was going to buy one “Lifetime Riches” scratch game ticket at Tobacco Outlet Plus, 2312 State St., Bettendorf. But there were two left, so he bought both of them. It brought him a $10,000 prize.

Lifetime Riches is a $20 scratch game. Two top prizes of $1 million are still up for grabs in Lifetime Riches.
