A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Cedar County left one driver dead and two other people injured.

The crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 north of Durant, according to a crash report filed by the Iowa State Patrol.

The driver of a 2010 Pontiac G6 struck a 2003 Toyota Corolla, then got out of his car and stood in front of it. 

A driver of a Ford Escape then lost control of his vehicle and collided with the Pontiac, pushing it into the driver, the report stated.

The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of family.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Tipton Ambulance and the Durant Fire Department.
