One person is dead following an early morning accident on Interstate 80 in Cedar County.

The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. at mile marker 264 east of West Branch.

Shuying Guo, 58, of Iowa City was driving westbound on I-80, according to an accident report filed by the Iowa State Patrol. Guo lost control of the 2006 Hyundai which crossed into the median then rolled, finally coming to rest in the eastbound lanes.

The report said Guo exited the vehicle and was standing near the vehicle when it was struck by a semi driven by Jack E. Walker, 55, of Charleston, Ill.  The eastbound semi then went into the median.

The interstate was closed for several hours.

 The crash remains under investigation.
