Bethany for Children & Families received a new 2012 Kia Sedona minivan for its Give Kids a Smile dental program. The minivan was donated by Courtesy Car City Moline and the Riverboat Development Authority.

The vehicle will be used for the restorative care component of the Give Kids a Smile program. Once a child has an initial dental screening on the mobile dental bus, the child can be transported in the minivan to the office of a participating dentist in the program. The van will ensure that children in the area are able to attend followup care appointments.

The program provides no-cost dental care to eligible children. The dental bus visits area schools and child-care facilities. Services on the dental bus include examination, cleaning, fluoride treatment and sealants. Followup care includes fillings, extractions and, in some cases, periodontal care and orthodontic care. The program has served more than 4,000 children since the dental bus rolled out in October 2011.
