Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, has announced that the DeWitt Fire Department will receive $133,629 in funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program.

The money will be used to purchase breather packs and replacement parts for breather packs. Loebsack has been a longtime supporter of the program, which allows first responders to buy firefighting equipment, implement wellness programs that focus on health and improve facilities.

Funds can be used for many needs, including new protective equipment, health and safety modifications to stations and training for emergency personnel.
