The final grandstand act is set for this summer’s Mississippi Valley Fair.
Diamond Rio, a country band with hits such as “Meet in the Middle,” “One More Day” and “Beautiful Mess,” is set for Saturday, Aug. 3, at the fairgrounds in Davenport.
The act can be announced today, fair director Bob Fox said, after the band’s Saturday night performance at the Quad-Cities Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf.
Diamond Rio rounds out a schedule that includes these previously announced acts:
-- country singer Toby Keith, July 30
-- rapper-turned-country singer Uncle Kracker, July 31
-- “Hillbilly” country singer Dwight Yoakam, Aug. 1
-- Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aug. 2

-- Diamond Rio, Aug. 3
-- rising country singer Jake Owen, Aug. 4
Fox said the lineup plays to a broader choice of music styles than in many previous years.
“It’s really a diverse lineup,” he said. “We’ve really got something for everyone here, hopefully.”
As always, admission to the grandstand is available only through the purchase of a Fun Card. The cost is $40 until July 6 and $45 after that date. Gift certificates for the Fun Cards are available at the fair office, 2815 W. Locust Ave., with mail-order ticket sales beginning May 25. Later in the summer, Fun Cards will be available at some sponsor locations. More information is available at MVFair.com.
