Dave Murcia, director and naturalist for the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center, will present a program about prescribed burns from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bettendorf Fire Station-Surrey Heights location, 5002 Crow Creek Road, Bettendorf.

Murcia will discuss the purpose and importance of prescribed fire as a management tool, the requirements for planning and conducting a burn and local initiatives and case studies to show the success of using fire as a management tool.

Partners of Scott County Watersheds will host the monthly educational lunch forum. Lunch will be provided with a $5 donation and RSVP by contacting Karen Wilke at 563-391-1403, Ext. 3, or email karen.wilke@ia.nacdnet.net.
