A new private student housing development aimed at Black Hawk College students will break ground at 3 p.m. Tuesday, the college said today in a news release.

The Villas at Black Hawk will offer 120 beds and will be located on the northeast corner of Parking Lot 4 at 6600 24th Ave., Moline, which is owned by the Black Hawk College Foundation.

Construction on the housing development by Bettendorf-based Bluffstone LLC will be completed by mid-summer and will open its doors to students by the fall.

“Black Hawk College is excited to partner with Bluffstone to provide a high-quality housing opportunity for our students,” said Dr. Thomas Baynum, president of Black Hawk College. “This public/private partnership will enhance our students’ college experience.”

The Villas will offer a common indoor area that will consist of the manager’s office, mailboxes, social/recreation center, a 24-hour fitness center, study rooms and state-of-the-art laundry facilities.

The outdoor common area will consist of a patio for social and recreational use, along with a variety of outdoor entertainment amenities.

Additional services will include academic and social programming, shipping and receiving and 24-hour maintenance.
