The Moline Fire Department is investigating the cause of an attic fire Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to 5403 3rd Ave. at 9:37 a.m. where a fire broke out in the attic, Capt. Mick Dochterman said.

The two-story, wood-frame home is divided into three apartments, and five residents escaped unharmed, Dochterman said.

The fire was contained to the attic, Dochterman said.

The East Moline Fire Department, Moline Police Department, Moline Second Alarmers and American Red Cross of the Quad-Cities Area assisted.
