Families invited to Festival of Praise

Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Lincoln Brewster will headline this year’s Festival of Praise today, Aug. 31, at the LeClaire Park Bandshell, 400 W. Beiderbecke Drive, Davenport. Gates open at 5 p.m., with the concert at 6 p.m.

The opening celebration will be led by Dave and Carrie Meumann and the High Praise Band.

The cost is $10 cash at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Proceeds will benefit Children in Crisis.

School of Worship trains praise leaders

Music pastors and praise leaders desiring to learn more about leading praise can sign up for the Quad-Cities School of Worship, offered by the Quad-Cities Prayer Center.

The specialized program is designed to teach and equip men and women to be leaders in local churches. Led by music pastor Scott Schaefer, the classes include personal holiness, character and leadership, worship vs. praise 101, faith foundations and nuts and bolts.

Clinton church hosts The Power Team

Church of the Open Door, 816 13th Ave., Clinton, will host The Power Team Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 4-8.

The Power Team is a group of world-class athletes who perform exhibitions of power, strength and speed as they tackle the tough issues of drugs, alcohol, violence, abstinence, peer pressure and suicide.

Services will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. Doors open one hour before services. There is a $2 suggested donation at the door.

Jerusalem Temple hosts women’s conference

Jerusalem Temple Apostolic Church, 1440 W. 3rd St., Davenport, will host a women’s conference, “Release Me,” Sept. 13-15.

Events include:

  • 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 — Evangelist Connie Wint, from Denver, Colo., no charge.
  • 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 — Conference, with speakers Vera Stokes, Vanessa Tatum, Angela Daily and evangelists Bettina McWilliams and Connie Wint. Luncheon speaker will be Dr. Willetta Green-Johnson, Chicago. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 5-12 and free for ages 4 and under.
  • 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 — Evangelist Connie Wint, no charge.

Friday and Sunday services will be held at Jerusalem Apostolic Church. The Saturday luncheon will be at CASI, the Center for Active Seniors Inc., 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport. Children invited to weekly program

Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3834 Rockingham Road, Davenport, hosts a weekly children’s ministry called Shining Stars.

The free program, for children 3 years old through 5th grade, meets 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays at the church.

Children have fun learning new songs, hearing Bible stories, enjoying puppet skits, playing games and making crafts. Dinner is provided, with a free-will donation. The program is open to the public. For more information or to register, call 563-324-6431.
