The annual federal workforce charity campaign kicked off its six-week pledge drive this week.

Federal government employees donate to Combined Federal Campaign charities to make a difference in the Quad-City area, with this year’s slogan of “Give a Little, Help a Lot.”

Local and national participating nonprofit organizations set up displays and information tables in the Rock Island Arsenal’s fire station for employees to learn how their money is used to help others.

The Illowa Bi-State Combined Federal Campaign covers all federal, postal and military employees in a 37-county area that includes Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside counties in Illinois and Cedar,  Clinton, Jackson, Louisa, Muscatine and Scott counties in Iowa.

Last year, employees in that area gave $681,724 to local, national and international charities, with almost half staying in the Quad-City area.
