Investigators are working to determine the cause of fire that damaged the former Mac’s Triangle restaurant this morning in Wheatland, Iowa.

A Wheatland volunteer firefighter on his way to work noticed smoke coming from the building at 104 West Lincolnway about 4:30 a.m. today and called 911, according to a news release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

Wheatland Fire Chief Pat Stewart said the building has been vacant for a couple of years. The Iowa Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
