A fishing clinic for area youth ages 5-12 will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, at Frog Pond at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge near Savanna, Ill.

Kids Fishing Day includes lessons and a hot dog cookout. Children 6 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the day.

Participants are asked to meet at the Frog Pond parking lot, which is 1.5 miles south of Savanna on Illinois 84. There will be banners along the road.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register by contacting the District Office at 815-273-2732. Registration ends at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4. Participants are asked to bring a fishing pole. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will provide poles for those without one.
