The former Iowana Dairy at 15th and State Streets in Bettendorf is being torn down today to make way for the new Interstate 74 bridge interchange

The building was built in 1953.

The brick-faced structure at 1416 State St. is the sixth of the most recent demolitions planned by the Iowa Department of Transportation. The demolition permit was issued Jan. 11.

A crew demolished the Crossroads Apartments at 1326 State St. last week.

Completed demolitions from this set include a church and two houses on Grant Street and one house on Brown Street.

    Sad.
I know, progress bla, bla, bla.
But they had a soda fountain store on the corner of their building
that made the BEST cherry soda I've ever had.
