Top of the morning to all in the Quad-Cities. Be happy you’re not out in the New England and northeast areas of the United States this weekend. They’re about to get hit with a winter storm of historic proportions with more than 2 feet of snow in some areas.

Meanwhile, back in the Quad-Cities, you’re waking up to 29 degrees and overcast skies.

Today will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 31 degrees and a low around 20 degrees. Winds will be from the north.

For your weekend:

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 42 degrees. Rain is likely after midnight with a low around 31 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday showers are likely with possibly a thunderstorm. The high is expected to reach 44 degrees. There’s a chance of rain before midnight, then a slight chance of snow. The low will be around 30 degrees.
