U.S. House Speaker John Boehner will be in Colona, Ill., next week to campaign for Rep. Bobby Schilling, R-Ill.

The event will be a luncheon fundraiser on Oct. 18 at Tennant Truck Lines. Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert will also be featured.

Schilling is in a tough re-election battle with Democrat Cheri Bustos in Illinois’ 17th District, and each of the parties is weighing in heavily with hundreds of thousands of dollars in spending, much of it on television advertising.

The cost of the fundraiser ranges from $100 to $2,500, with the latter contribution giving the donor a chance to meet with Boehner and Schilling.

Already, the head of the House Republicans’ political arm, Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, has campaigned for the freshman Republican. And over the weekend, Barry Jackson, a senior adviser to Boehner, was in the area to campaign for the congressman.
