A former elected official is seeking a seat on the Davenport City Council.
Toby Paone, a former elected official in the Missouri House of Representatives and the Rice Lake (Wisconsin) City Council, has entered the race to become alderman at-large on the Davenport City Council.
“My experience as an elected official and a mayoral assistant in St. Louis shows I know how to get the job done for people,” Paone said. “I can be effective right away on the Davenport City Council. These experiences came out of hard work and a willingness to listen to people’s concerns about their neighborhoods and communities.”
Paone represents the professional employees for the Bettendorf, Davenport, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges and the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency through his work for the Iowa State Education Association.
If elected, Paone will put emphasis on three specific areas: the city’s infrastructure needs, support for public employees and advancing quality of life for all people, irrespective of race, religion or lifestyle.
“Like most cities, we have problems, but we also have avenues to address and resolve those problems," Paone said. "I want to help small business prosper here in Davenport.
"I want to see families raise their children here and get a good foundation in life. I want the best schools in the country right here, and I want our parks, streets and neighborhoods safe for everyone."
