A fourth candidate added his name to the list of potential Democratic nominees in the Illinois 17th Congressional District.
Eric Reyes announced Saturday in Rock Island he will be joining three other Democratic candidates seeking nomination for the race against Rep. Bobby Schilling in the 2012 election.
For Reyes, a Rock Island native, his decision to run became clear the longer he practiced immigration law.
“I’ve found that, essentially, there is nothing that can be done for children that were brought here by their parents when they’re infants,” he said. “The only way to make a difference is to become a legislator and change the law.”

The 32-year-old Augustana College and Northern Illinois University Law School graduate said his background in law and experience helping in several political campaigns, including President Barack Obama’s, has given him insight into the campaigning process.
Reyes currently operates a private practice in Rock Island. Other candidates include East Moline council member Cheri Bustos, Freeport Mayor George Gaulrapp, and state Sen. Dave Koehler of Peoria.
