The site development plan for the new Governor's Pub and Grill location is headed to the Bettendorf City Council for approval on Feb. 6.
The Bettendorf Plan and Zoning Commission voted to pass a recommendation of approval to the City Council during its Jan. 17 meeting.
Governor's intends to construct a 9,200 square-foot, single-story building at 3610 Tanglewood Road, Bettendorf, so it can relocate from its existing location at 3470 Middle Road.
In September, both Hy-Vee and Governor's announced their intentions to expand their respective businesses.
At the site of the current Governor's, which is about 2,900 square feet, Hy-Vee is planning to add a gas station and convenience store.
The Bettendorf City Council has already approved Hy-Vee's site development plans and rezoning the 4.17-acre property where the new Governor's will reside from R-4, multi-family residence district and A-2, rural residence district to C-1, local shopping district.
"We at Governor’s have been searching for an existing location for months that would meet our needs," Governor's marketing manager Joseph Janz wrote in the September news release. "However, after exhausting all other possibilities, we are confident that this new facility will not only meet our current needs, but allow us the expansion necessary to please and entertain our guests for years to come."
