Habitat for Humanity Quad-Cities will dedicate a house to Rita Ramos and her family at 10 a.m. Saturday at 6604 Hoover Road, Davenport. More than 500 volunteers helped to build the home, which was the site of the 2012 Lowes Women Build Week. The 76th Habitat house in the Quad-Cities was sponsored by Scott County Housing Council, Habitat 500-Gordon Fordyce, Duncan Cameron Foundation, Wells Fargo, Cargill and Habitat ReStore.
Ramos worked more than 450 hours of sweat equity at Habitat, almost double the minimum of 250 hours required. She also attended classes on home ownership and financial responsibility. The house will be purchased with a no-interest loan.
Habitat for Humanity Quad-Cities is a nonprofit Christian housing organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by building simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income, working families.
